Josh joined the Progressive Party as staff in May of 2016 as Elections Director and later became Executive Director. He first became interested in the Progressive Party as a student at Saint Michael’s College where he was active in student organizing around labor and climate issues, and as an intern with the Vermont Workers Center.

After graduating from college in 2011, Josh spent a year organizing residents of low-income housing projects with the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition through the AmeriCorps program. After completing his year with AmeriCorps, Josh spent three years working for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees union and the American Federation of Teachers union. During his time as a union organizer he participated in the successful campaigns to organize home healthcare workers and Community College of Vermont Faculty. He also spent time organizing public workers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, The District of Columbia, Philadelphia, and Florida.

Josh lives in Burlington’s Old North End with his partner Annie, two cats, and rabbit.

Hey there, I’m Yva Nolan, and I’m excited to introduce myself to you as your member organizer!

I have a diverse background that has led me to this role. I have served as the treasurer for NAACP and gained valuable experience in organizing and advocating for social justice and equality.

As a former community educator at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, I helped survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence find support. Educating others about these issues allowed me to make a difference. Additionally, I am a school board director for Windham Southeast School District, where I have worked tirelessly to ensure all students have access to quality education.

I am a mom of two boys and love gardening in my spare time.

Being a part of this community means a lot to me because I believe in the power of people coming together to create positive change. The Progressive Party is committed to fighting for social, economic, and environmental justice in our state.

As someone who has always been passionate about activism and advocacy, this is the perfect place for me to make a difference.

I’m looking forward to building relationships with others and working together to create a better future for everyone. When we come together as a community, we have the power to make real change happen. Whether it’s through grassroots organizing, advocacy, or direct action, there are so many ways in which we can collaborate to make a positive impact.
