Every two years, per State statute, Progressive Party members are required to (re)organize at the town, county, and state level. This is a legal requirement for us to remain a major political party in Vermont, but it is also our opportunity to engage Progressive Party members across the state, identify and elect new leaders, and grow our movement's capacity to organize around the issues we care about. 

To be successful, we will need hundreds of people to participate in their local town caucuses, county committee meetings, and the State Convention.

We successfully completed the 2025 reorganization process, but our work does not end there. Our work to build our movement continues. If you are interested in organizing a new town caucus or joining an existing caucus, please reach out to our team so that we can connect you with the right people.

How to Organize a Town Caucus

Organizing a Progressive committee for your town is easy.  Here is how it works:

  1. Set a date, time, and public location for the caucus in your town. 

  2. Let us know the information for the caucus by:

    a. Contacting Heather Thomas, Interim Executive Director, at heather@progressiveparty.org. The Party needs to notify Town Clerks of scheduled meetings 14 days in advance of the meeting.

  3. Post Notice of Caucus form (linked on this page) at your town clerk’s office and two other places around town at least 5 days before the meeting. 

  4. Invite your friends, neighbors, and other Progressive Party members to the meeting by sharing information by email, social media, and front porch forum. The Progressive Party can provide you with a list of likely Progressives in your area, and will share the information for your caucus on social media and email.

  5. Let us know who attended and who was elected chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary, and as a delegate to your county committee by completing and returning the Certification of Officers form within 72 hours following the caucus.
