Come see what our House Progressive caucus has been up to!

Friend-

Our legislators have been hard at work planning for the upcoming legislative session, and our House Progressive caucus is excited to announce their newly elected leadership team- Rep. Selene Colburn and Rep. Elect Emma Mulvaney-Stanak!

Our new caucus chair, Rep. Colburn, previously served as assistant caucus chair in 2020. She is a co-founder of Vermont Access to Reproductive Freedom, a former Burlington City Councilor, and a librarian at the University of Vermont. She’s lived in Burlington, the Northeast Kingdom, and Southern Vermont.

Rep. Elect Mulvaney-Stanak, our new assistant caucus chair, previously served as a City Councilor in Burlington and State Chair of the Progressive Party. Originally from Barre, Vermont, Emma spent most of her professional career as a statewide community and labor organizer in the economic justice field. She now runs her own social change consulting business working with clients in the labor movement, education, and the nonprofit sector.

If you’re interested in watching the recorded election, you can see it here.

This is the first time that our caucus leadership has been all-female-- a reflection of our majority-female caucus. You can learn more about all of our elected officials on our website.

Our house caucus is made up of uniquely qualified individuals with diverse professional and lived experiences that have often been underrepresented in the Statehouse. We are excited to see what they can accomplish and how policy discussions will change as a result of these important voices having a seat at the table.

As we enter the new year and new session, the caucus will be working hard looking for new ways to bring transparency and engage Vermonters, including live streaming caucus meetings. Their emerging model of collective leadership means you’ll see all members stepping up and playing key roles, from spokesperson to policy leader.

With our new caucus leadership and our powerful group of legislators bringing fresh ideas to Montpelier, I’m excited to see what progress we can make!

In solidarity,

Lisa Gerlach
