The Vermont Progressive Party Calls for the resignation of Eva Vekos, Addison County State’s Attorney

Middlebury, Vermont — The allegations against Addison County State’s Attorney Eva Vekos demonstrate a long history of negligence in her role. It is horrific to hear how sexual assault victims were belittled, bullied, and shamed by the Addison County State’s Attorney. We – as a county, as a state, and as a society – cannot continue to fail the victims of sexual violence. We deserve better.

It is clear that Eva Vekos has failed morally, ethically, and legally to protect the sisters and daughters of Addison County, whom she took an oath to protect. She must resign – immediately.

If she does not resign, the Addison County legislators in the State House should begin the process of impeachment against Vekos. Her complete and total lack of regard and respect for sexual violence victims cannot continue.
